Phi Delta Kappa UK Central Kentucky Chapter

November 10, 2004

Dear Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) Member,

PDK/UK is writing to all members to let you know of two special events scheduled for November and December. Please mark your calendars NOW, and plan to attend both events!

The first event is the Kappan Discussion Group. This group, led by PDK/UK President Gary Schroeder, meets twice in the fall and twice in the spring to discuss issues raised in current articles published in the Phi Delta Kappan. They will be meeting at the Tates Creek Library, November 16th, 7:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. The November 2004 Kappan section on International Education will be the focus for the second fall session. Please go to the PDK website (www.pdkuk.org) for a listing of the article(s) that will be discussed and a preliminary set of questions to consider. This discussion group is a way for interested parties to gather together and use the Kappan for a lively discussion of important issues in education.

The next event is the annual PDK Winter Celebration. This years dinner will be held Friday, December 3, 2004 at Murrays on Harrodsburg Road. There will be a cash bar from 6:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. and dinner will be at 7:00 p.m. Dinner will include a salad, entre, vegetables, bread, and drink. Dessert can be ordered from the menu for an additional cost. Specific information about the menu, cost, and location of the restaurant can be found on the PDK website (www.pdkuk.org). Please RSVP to Andy Biggers, PDK VP/Programs (859-744-2243) or (ABiggers@Clark.k12.ky.us), by November 26. This is always a festive occasion and we hope that many PDK members (and guests) will attend.

The PDK/UK Governing Board encourages members (and interested guests) to attend the Kappan Discussion Group on November 16 and the December 3 Winter Celebration. We look forward to seeing fellow PDK members in the weeks ahead.

Sincerely,

PDK/UK Board
